Looking for the best burger in Prague?
Lucky for you, the classic American cheeseburger has made its way across the pond and infiltrated this famously meat-and-potatoes city. Not all burgers are created equal, and you can find a lot of really bad burgers here.
There are a ton of restaurants in Prague offering low-quality fare. But, even though the Czechs didn’t invent the burger, they sometimes make a really delicious one.

The Best Burgers in Prague
With access to high-quality meat, a wider variety of cheese options, and added creativity with toppings, the burgers in Prague are getting better and better. And don’t worry – there are great burger options for vegetarians and vegans, as well.
So where can you find the best burgers in Prague? We’re about to tell you.
Burgerman
Burgerman started as a shared takeaway window during lockdown, but recently opened their own restaurant at Letenske Namesti. The simple fact that they thrived during those times tells you a lot about their burgers. This is a no-frills place where it’s all about (as it should be) THE MEAT; a high-quality mixture of different cuts with the right fat content, making for a patty that melts in your mouth.
They have a few options ranging from classic to spicy, and a raclette burger for vegetarians. Oh, and the fries…go for the ones fried in beef tallow. The owner of Burgerman is extremely passionate about what he does, and it shows in every bite and in the friendly nature of the staff. In order to take things to the next level, future plans include having an in-house bakery and butcher shop.
Hillbilly Burger
Located at Strossmayerovo Namesti in Holesovice, this craft burger bar has quickly made a name for itself as having some of the best burgers in Prague. Owned and operated by Czechs who are passionate about burgers, you’ll be impressed by their creative concoctions.
With 7 burgers on the menu, and a few options for BBQ and chicken lovers, Hillbilly Burgers is hard to beat. Their burgers range from classic to Mexican-style to burgers with prawns and more. As for sides, their Dirty Fries are to die for, but you can also get regular fries, cole slaw, fried jalapenos, and more. Order a craft cocktail or a local beer to complement your meal.
This place gets busy fast, so reservations are recommended.
Smashed Prague
This restaurant in Zizkov looks like a hole-in-the-wall, but these are usually the places with the best food! This holds true for Smashed, specializing in smashburgers (obviously). This is the perfect place to go if you’re in the market for a classic burger.
There may not be much variation, but there absolutely is a lot of flavor. Topped with cheese, pickles, and onions, it’s hard to go wrong here. You can grab a single or a double along with fries and chipotle mayo for that delicious American-diner-style meal that’ll leave you perfectly satisfied.
Naše Maso
This butcher shop located on Dlouha Street is known to have some of the best quality meat in the city. And of course, that means they also have some of the best burgers in Prague. Selling only beef from Czech Fleckvieh cattle, this is one of the tastiest and most sustainable burgers in town.
They only have one classic burger on the menu, and it’s expertly prepared medium rare. This way, you can fully appreciate the taste of the beef. The chefs here know that sometimes keeping it simple is the best way to go.
They also have plenty of grilled sausages, meatloaf options, ham sandwiches, and more. Complete with Czech beer, this is the perfect place to go if you truly want a local experience.
Mr. Hot Dog
With a name like Mr. Hot Dog, you may not expect this restaurant to make it onto a best burgers list, but here we are. Of course, they specialize in a wide variety of American-style hot dogs, but they also have delicious sliders. These mini-burgers can be ordered classic, with cheese, with both bacon and cheese, or naked. Perfect as a snack or as a side to a big helping of their famous fries, these sliders are some of the best in town.
Other than burgers and hot dogs, you’ll definitely want to indulge in their Dumpster Fries if you’re visiting during summer. They also serve a mean margarita and have a rotating tap for Czech craft beer.
The Tavern
This American-owned restaurant opened near Riegrovy Sady (one of the nicest parks in Prague) in 2010 and since then, they’ve managed to develop a loyal and passionate customer base. With about 7 different burger options to choose from, every palate will be satisfied here. The Tavern prides itself on 100% beef neck burgers on homemade butter buns, so you can rest assured it’s top quality.
They also specialize in fried chicken and BBQ, so if you’re not in the mood for a burger, these options are delicious as well. And let’s not forget their delicious Tav sauce, a homemade blend that you can have on your sandwich or simply with a side of fries.
Wash those burgers down with classic American-style cocktails or some Czech craft beer. If brunch is more your style, stop by for their Weekend Brunchfest – you can’t go wrong with their Big Tav Brunchburger. And as a bonus, you’ll also experience American-style customer service here.
Dish
Located near Namesti Miru, Dish famously has some of the best burgers in Prague. With more than 10 varieties of burgers for you to choose from, there’s something for everyone here. From classic to spicy to Vietnamese-inspired, this is the place to go for the adventurous burger-lover.
They also have plenty of varieties of fries, sauces, and even salads if you’re in the mood for something else. To wash it all down, order one of their craft cocktails or a local wine or beer. We recommend the Crystal Libre.
Meat & Greet Burgerhouse
Located right off of Old Town Square, this is perhaps the most convenient burger place for visitors to get to. With nine burgers, including a turkey burger and a veggie burger, this place has something for every type of taste bud. They have a traditional Czech burger, one with goat cheese, one made with port wine mayo, and the list goes on. This is the perfect place to go to if you want to try something out of the box.
They also have plenty of starters, salads, fries, and other side dishes. This spot is also a great place to get a beer in Prague. Round out your meal with a brew from the beloved Czech craft brewery Matuska or one of their signature cocktails.
Mikrofarma
Situated on Namesti Jiriho z Podebrad, this is another butcher shop and deli known for its high-quality meats. For such a small bistro, their menu is quite large. All their burgers are made from their specialty aged beef. You can choose from three options: the Big Cheeseburger (a monster 250-gram option), the BBQ Burger, or the Royal Truffle Burger.
They also have plenty of hot dogs made from their specialty sausage, cheesesteaks, sandwiches, and more. For morning people, they serve a small breakfast selection from 8 am to 11 am on weekends. Just keep in mind that the menu is always subject to change based on what they’ve locally sourced.
The only vegetarian options are their sides, so this is not a place to take your veggie friend.
Kaiser Franz
Kaiser Franz specializes in street food, with one of those street foods being burgers! You can often find their pop-up stands at farmers’ markets like the one at Jiriho z Podebrad or Náplavka. Their permanent establishment, though, is located in Vinohrady.
They offer six varieties of burgers, ranging from the Kimchi Burger to the Blue Cheese Burger. These burgers are typically 150 grams of beef, but you can make it smaller by ordering a slider version (90 grams of beef). They can also sub out the beef in any menu item for a Beyond Meat patty for vegetarians.
Other than burgers, they have hot dogs, fries, quesadillas, and appetizers. At their bistro, they always have at least six beers on tap for you to wash everything down.
Blackdog Cantina
Located in the center of Prague, Blackdog Cantina specializes in American, Latin American, and Tex-Mex cuisine. With 7 burger options plus 2 vegetarian options, you’ll be delighted at the variety available to you here. They offer a Smashburger, a newly-added Mango Burger, a spicy Atomic Burger, and several others.
Aside from burgers, they also have BBQ, steak sandwiches, quesadillas, and more. There are also plenty of cocktails, beers, and wines on the list to complement your meal.
Let’s Meat
Located in Vinohrady, there are only three burgers on Let’s Meat’s menu but they’re all Black Angus 180-gram patties, so they’re all delicious. All burgers are prepared medium unless you specify otherwise when you order.
Choose from the Blue Cheese Burger, the Wild Mexico Burger with chorizo, or the Let’s Burger, the most classic option on the list. They also have plenty of other dishes, such as wings combos, meat boards, fish and chips, and more. The local beer flows freely here and there’s also a wide variety of cocktails to choose from.
Kantýna
Kantyna is another butcher shop that’s a member of Prague’s Ambiente restaurant group, just like Naše Maso, so high-quality beef is a given. They offer several burger options, from plain beef burgers and cheeseburgers to dry-aged beef burgers. They also offer pork schnitzel, sausages, and more.
The menu is subject to change as the chefs make original creations based on what’s available at their butcher shop that day. There are plenty of local wines and beers on offer here as well to quench your thirst. Located in New Town, this establishment does not take reservations so be sure to get there early.
Cafe Palanda
Another burger joint in Prague’s New Town, Cafe Palanda boasts eight burgers for you to choose from. With 170 grams of beef tucked into delicious buns with creative combinations of toppings, this is another place for those with adventurous taste buds. You can get a Spicy Burger 2.0, the Absolute Cheese Burger with fried Swiss cheese, a Beef Caesar Burger, and more. They also serve “naked burgers”, meaning without the bun for the carb-conscious customer.
They also have a slow-roasted pulled pork sandwich, a variety of beef tartares, plenty of appetizers and sides, and even waffles. Wash it all down with a tasty draft beer.
Best Vegetarian Burgers in Prague
Looking for a vegetarian or vegan burger? These three restaurants have pretty dang good ones.
The Tavern
We’ve already established that The Tavern has some of the best burgers in Prague, but their veggie burgers are also incredible! They have not just one veggie option, but five. They have patties made of either spinach, white beans, and walnuts, or lentils, brown rice, mushrooms, and hazelnuts. If those options don’t do it for you, they also serve the Beyond Meat burger. All of these options are just as delicious as (if not more so than) their beef burgers!
Dish
Dish also has a delicious option for vegetarians: their portobello mushroom burger. Topped with pesto, mozzarella, spinach, and red onions, it’s hard to beat this one. For vegetarian sides, you can choose from regular fries or sweet potato fries.
Chutnej
This restaurant located in Letna is all vegan and their burgers are hands down some of the best in Prague. They have six different options, each with a different type of patty and all made from scratch – which means no fake meat burgers! They also have vegan lasagna, poutine, and amazing fries with vegan sauce options.
As you can see, there are plenty of amazing restaurants in town covering all types of burgers: craft burgers, smashburgers, veggie burgers, and more. These restaurants, though, have risen to the top of the Prague burger scene. If you’re looking for the best burgers in Prague, now you know where to go. Dobrou chut’!
