Well, you’re in luck. We have taken literally thousands of photographs of Prague. So, we’re what you might call “experts” on photography around the Czech capital.

Prague is one of the most photogenic cities in the entire world. From iconic views of Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and dozens of other locations this city never stops delivering. That’s one of the reasons photography in Prague is so much fun. You can grab a beer at just about any one of these spots after you’re done, which is a huge bonus.

We’re going to walk you through some of the best places to take beautiful photos of Prague, and show you examples of the views you can capture with your own camera.

Get your SD cards ready. After you read this you’ll want to hit the cobblestone streets to try your own hand at Prague photography!

Top of Old Town Bridge Tower

The Old Town Bridge Tower is the name of the tower on the east side of the Charles Bridge. This area is one of the very best spots in Prague for photography of the beautiful Mala Strana (which translates to “Lesser Town”) neighborhood.

Paying the entrance fee to climb the Old Town Bridge Tower is worth every penny (or 100 Czech Koruna), even if you aren’t a photographer. You’ll have a sweeping view of the Mala Strana neighborhood of the city, with its orange rooftops, spires, domes, and of course, Prague Castle itself.

This spot is also a great place for sunset photography in Prague. This is especially true on a day when it has rained, but the sky clears up enough to allow the sun’s rays to reflect against the clouds.

On the Charles Bridge

Walking across the Charles Bridge is a quintessential activity for any tourist visiting Prague. It also happens to be one of the best spots for photography in Prague, period.

If you arrive at the Charles Bridge super early in the morning, you can face east and capture an amazing sunrise over the bridge tower. If you come in the afternoon you can potentially capture the sun setting behind Prague Castle to the northwest. If you are lucky and you come on a snow day to catch one of the most breathtaking views in the entire world, in our opinion.

The bridge is also a great spot for architectural photography, as you can see in the picture above. Both of the Charles Bridge towers make for striking models, in all of their Gothic beauty. There are certain spots on the bridge where you can capture some amazing shots of Prague Castle as well, especially if you are using a 200/300 mm zoom lens.

Top of Town Hall Clock Tower

The Astronomical Clock Tower is one of the most iconic attractions in Prague. Millions of people have crowded around the base over the last decade, taking pictures of the mechanical contraption.

However, the very top of the tower is as worthy of a visit as the bottom. Once atop the tower, you will get sweeping views of Prague’s Old Town, in every single direction. It’s a great spot to photograph the church across the square, to capture rooftop photos, and to spy on Prague Castle.

Letna Park Overlook

Letna Park is one of the best parks in Prague, for many reasons. Green fields, a sweet beer garden, and one of the coolest outdoor late-night hangouts at the Metronome are all found in Letna.

And so are sweet views of Prague. You can capture gorgeous shots of the Vltava and its many bridges from the lookout points in Letna. Want to get a shot of a tram chugging along with the Charles Bridge in the background? You’ll find that here as well.

Letna is also a GREAT spot for some fall foliage pictures in October. And yes, also great for people-watching, as you can see in the photo above. That all adds up to a great spot for Prague photography, so make sure it’s on your list!

Petrin Hill

Petrin Park is a great place to spend a nice Spring or Summer day in Prague. It’s a beautiful park with some cool trails for light hiking. As you climb higher up the park’s rather steep hill you can catch pretty sweet views of the Charles Bridge, and Old Town as well.

Vysehrad

Prague’s “second castle” of Vysehrad, and the grounds around it, are definitely worthy of a visit. You can also get some sweet shots of rooftops and architecture from the walls of the castle, as you will be perched high above the rest of the city.

The park itself is stunning, with a Gothic cemetery, a church, hillside vineyards, and more.

Královský Letohrádek Tram Stop

If you want to take pictures of trams it’s hard to think of a better place than the Královský Letohrádek tram stop. Especially beautiful during the fall, or on a snowy winter day, the corridor of trees makes for a breathtaking photo.

This tram stop is located right near Prague Castle, so you can couple it together with a visit there.

Riegrovy Sady Hill

Riegrovy Sady is one of our favorite little parks in Prague. It’s a local hangout all year round, and you will find not one but two beer gardens here.

Photographers will simply LOVE the hill that overlooks Old Town Prague, with the iconic shape of Prague Castle in the background. This park offers great photo opportunities all year round, being especially picturesque in the summer and winter (after snow) months.

Come for the photos, do some people-watching, and stay for a beer. If you love dogs, you’re also in luck. You can meet an incredible amount of Prague pups in this park, as it has multiple fields where dogs run free.

Just make sure you have enough free space on your SD cards for all the amazing Prague photos!

Olsany Cemetery

One of our favorite cemeteries in all of Prague, Olsany offers countless opportunities for photographers.

Be respectful of where you walk or stand when taking pictures here. Keep in mind that while the tombs and graves are incredible to look at this is a place of mourning and remembrance, first and foremost.
