Great blog! I read your day trips from Barcelona, and hoping maybe somebody has some advice. We are traveling from our home in Sumatra to the US, with a few nights in Barcelona on the way. We have 4 young children and will commit one day to the city, but the other full day we would like to use to look around. We’ve thought about Andorra and then to Ax-les-Thermes France and back, making for about 7 hours total on the road, but we’re not sure. Our kids have hardly ever experienced any cold weather and November will likely feel like the Antarctic to them, but they can toughen up…
Any suggestions come to mind?

Its really good to read your post about the people and their thinking in Barcelona. We agree that tourists visiting places should be responsible and respect their culture.
We had to been to Barcelona last year for a weekend and we managed to visit Montserrat which was great experience.

We where recently in Barcelona and experienced a few signs saying tourists equal terrorists and your holiday our hell. Lovely city just respect it

Thank you for not making blanket statements like “Don’t go to Barcelona.” Your approach – go, but do it right and see more, is so much more well rounded. And I totally agree about seeing the region, there is so much there.
