Looking for a great pair of travel shoes for walking around exciting new destinations?
We’ve walked on four different continents and in fifty different countries. So we truly know the value of a good pair of shoes. Trying to find the best travel shoes for walking, let alone hiking, biking, and swimming, isn’t easy.
In fact, we usually end up packing multiple shoes to fit all of our travel needs. A pair of sneakers for walking around cities, hiking boots for off-road adventures, and some sort of water shoes or flip-flops for wet and sandy destinations.
As you can imagine, all those shoes take up a lot of precious suitcase space and weight. Not ideal for long-term travel, backpacking, or traveling with just carry-on luggage. What we really need is a pair of all-purpose, lightweight shoes.
So, when we discovered Tropicfeel, it was like striking gold…very, very light and comfy gold.

What Makes Tropicfeel the Best Travel Shoes for Walking & More
14 ounces. That’s the total weight of a pair of Tropicfeel Monsoon shoes. Compared to 4 lbs, which is what my hiking shoes, sneakers, and flip flops combined weigh, that’s considerably less when it comes to the precious little luggage weight allowances airline companies are giving us these days.
Not only are these all-terrain sneakers light they are also super comfy. The thick soles add extra bounce to my step no matter if I’m hitting the cobbled streets of a European city’s old town, or trekking up and down the hills of the Bohemian Highlands.
As outdoor adventure shoes, they’re pretty incredible. Claiming that the shoes are breathable is a bit of an understatement because with each step I can literally feel fresh air whooshing in. If my feet do happen to get sweaty it’s not an issue. Tropicfeel shoes are made with an anti-microbial, anti-odor treatment called Agion, so they won’t get stinky.
A huge issue I always have with any new pair of walking shoes for travel are dreaded heel blisters. It’s pretty inevitable, an issue I’ve basically accepted and have always tried to solve with a literal band-aid…or three. With the Tropicfeel Monsoon sneakers blisters aren’t a problem because they have an elastic inner heel. The soft and stretchy material prevents slippage and comfortably hugs my heel with each and every step. Goodbye, blisters!
Unexpected rain, a dip in a lake, or a run across a stream. None of these things put a damper on my travel day because Tropicfeel’s are also aqua shoes. Yes, you can even go swimming in them! Plus, since they dry super quickly I don’t have to walk around with wet feet for the rest of the day!
Finally, Tropicfeel shoes aren’t marketed as workout shoes, but I’ve tested them out at the gym. The slip-resistant soles are pretty awesome when lifting, and their feather-light weight makes jogging on the treadmill a delight…well, as delightful as that activity can possibly be.
Needless to say, I love these shoes. They’re super stylish, functional, and in my opinion the best travel shoes for walking, hiking, exercise, and swimming.
I think the one scenario I can imagine them not being a perfect fit for are cold and snowy destinations. They’re better suited for backpacking around Central America, Asia, or traveling around Europe during the spring, summer, and fall. But you can’t have everything, can you?

If you know anything about Just a Pack you know that we are all about endorsing responsible travel. We have no desire to negatively impact the destinations we travel to. Additionally, we strive to leave as small a footprint on the planet as possible in our personal lives.
That said, we are 100% confident that wearing and promoting Tropicfeel travel shoes aligns with our mission.
For one, the shoes are made from three recycled plastic bottles, which reduces waste that already otherwise pollutes our planet. Secondly, these shoes are PETA Certified 100% vegan. That means animals were not used, harmed, or exploited to make these shoes. Something that is of the utmost importance to me. Finally, the company donates 1% of its sales to projects that restore wildlife in national parks. Sounds like a pretty awesome product to me!
